History triathlons of Karlovy Vary

1994 - 1st race, part of the Czech Triathlon Cup

1996 - novelty - the race of the sexes, a direct handicap contest of men and women

1997 - the race is part of the ETU Prestige Cup for the first time

1999 - the race is part of the ETU European Cup for the first time, athletes from 20 countries

2000 - the race is a test for the European Championship

2001 - the European Championship, characterized as the best organized, most difficult and most rightful in the current EC history, live broadcasting on Czech TV and Eurosport for the first time

2002 - the race is part of the European Triathlon Grand Prix

2003 - the European Championship again, for the first time in history on the same venue

2004 - ITU European Continental Cup

2005 - … sthe race did not take place

2006 - the great event is reborn and re-surrected, for the first time organized by the local community CITY TRIATHLON Karlovy Vary, composed of elite local triathletes, such as Martin Pejsar, Vladimír Malý, Jan Kovalovský, Tomáš Báča. The race courses are slightly changed - attractive, rightful and demanding but getting the traffic out of the town. The race was earmarked by the Czech Triathlon Union and athletes as "2007 The best triathlon event in the Czech Republic".

2007 - a long-term tradition has continued. For the second time in a row, the most prestigious race on our territory was held in the most famous spa town of the Czech Republic. Following our last year´s resolution, we got the public and youth involved so we made a wide spectrum of athletes familiar with the magnificent and demanding local track. Compared to the previous year when 82 athletes were at the start, this year´s number climbed up to 176.

CITY TRIATHLON KARLOVY VARY is a new sports club in the Karlovy Vary Region. It was founded by significant local triathletes, such as Martin Pesar, Jan Kovalovský, Tomáš Báča and Jaroslav Pesar in order to develop triathlon in the Karlovy Vary Region and support young hopeful triathletes there. With the great support of the City Council of Karlovy Vary, its members and sponsors, the club aims to bring the World Triathlon Cup back to Karlovy Vary, a tradition terminated in 2005.

After negotiations with the Czech Triathlon Union and international triathlon federations (ETU and ITU) we are ready to organize the Czech Championship. Should the event be successful, then the City of Karlovy Vary will again host the European and World Cups in future.

There is no big race without a children aquathlon race (swimming - running) which can address amateur athletes.

We have continued in the tradition of Xterra races which took place for the third time already.
